Amid the rise in COVID-19 coronavirus cases across the country, Indian railways are slowly but steadily returning to normal. All Express trains: Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Tejas and Humsafar will be back on the railroad tracks soon.

The Railways aim to maximize the operations of passenger trains, so these express trains will be put back into service. According to railway sources, these trains will be stepped up to return to their original routes in November. All trains will operate as “special trains”.

Currently, the Railways are operating 682 special trains and 20 clone trains. Apart from this, 416 special festival trains will also run from October 20 to November 30.

According to sources, in November, the Government and the Ministry of Railways will assess the situation regarding COVID-19, after which the decision will be made to increase the number of other postal and express trains.

From the point of view of passenger trains, the railways want to return to normal by January 2021, where most routes are run by Rajdhani to Mail or Express trains.

In this way, the railways will meet the demand for travel and at the same time, from a revenue perspective, the loss of the huge loss of the last seven months will begin to recover.

The other side of the coin is that the railway company IRCTC is also suffering heavy losses. In such a situation, the more trains run, the greater the benefit of IRCTC.

On October 13, Indian Railways announced that it will operate 392 special festival trains between October 20 and November 30 in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season. The decision was made as the national airline anticipates a flood of passengers during the upcoming holiday season, the Railways Ministry said in a statement.

The special trains will run to destinations such as Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow, among others, to cater for the growing demand in the subsequent Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Chhatt puja holiday period, he said. So far, the railroads have put into service more than 300 mail / express trains that now run regularly throughout the country.

However, these new festival special trains will operate only until November 30 and will not run continuously, authorities said. These special festival trains will be mostly equipped with third party AC wagons. In an order issued Tuesday, the Railroad Board said these festival special trains will operate at a speed of 55 km / h and the applicable rates will be those of the special trains.

The Railways suspended all their regular services due to the coronavirus pandemic and are operating trains based on demand and need.
