Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli became the fifth player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to crush 200 sixes, on Sunday during the league match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Furthermore, Kohli is only the third Indian to achieve this distinction. The 31-year-old reached the milestone in the 17th of the first inning, after RCB won the toss and opted to hit. Kohli slammed the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja into the vision screen after going down the runway, making sure he had enough room to generate the proper contact.
RCB has posted a total of 145 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Kohli finished as his career leading scorer, racking up 50 runs from 43 deliveries in an inning consisting of a limit and a six. South African cricketer AB de Villiers was the other major contributor to the bat, scoring 39 runs on 36 balls with four limits under his belt.
English all-rounder Sam Curran was CSK’s most successful bowler, scooping up three wickets. Curran represented the firings of Aaron Finch, Kohli and Moeen Ali. Pacer Deepak Chahar provided quality support, choosing the two vital terrains of de Villiers and Chris Morris.
The two teams meet in the second southern derby of the current season, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. RCB emerged victorious in the first match between the two sides at IPL 2020, courtesy of an undefeated 90 from Kohli who slammed the ball into every corner of the ground mercilessly.
