Kings XI Punjab batsmen squandered a golden opportunity to end their losing streak when they fell two runs away from the 165-run goal against Kolkata Knight Riders at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Game 24 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Saturday. After a heartbreaking loss, the dejected KXIP captain KL Rahul was left speechless to explain what happened at the end of the manhunt for his side. “We started well, we got closer, but honestly I have no answers. I just have to keep coming up hard in the next seven and win a few,” KL Rahul said in the post-match presentation.
Rahul praised his bowlers for executing the plans that were asked of them.
“We pitched well, it’s the first game in this new stretch, but the players adapted well by swinging the ball early and getting windows in the power game, which is the only way to keep them below 180.”
“Even in death they did well to blend in, trying to throw gorillas and fool hitters with wide yorkers. That’s what we asked of them and they executed well.”
Rahul regretted the fact that Punjab lost cluster land towards the end of the chase and ultimately missed the target.

“We were not satisfied at any stage during the chase, you are only satisfied when you win. Mayank and I started well, but if you lose ground in groups at the end, it is difficult to go over the line.” Rahul concluded.
KXIP will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 15 at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Ground.
