New Delhi:
The Army had carried out “spot strikes” on terror launch pads within Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pakistani military’s tireless efforts to push as many terrorists as possible into India before the start of the Duros. winters, defense sources said today.
The Army said there were no shots fired or violation of the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday.
Referring to recent attempts at cross-border terrorism, sources said that the “deep state” in Pakistan tried to strike a delicate balance between escaping the scrutiny of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) of the global counterterrorism watchdog and supporting terrorism with the aim of stoking riots in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Army said that the reports that it carried out strikes on Thursday are “based on the analysis of the violations of the ceasefire (CFV) that occurred on November 13. There have been no shots or CFVs in the LoC today.”
Triggering a large outbreak, Pakistan resorted to heavy bombardment in various areas along the LoC in northern Kashmir on Friday. Five Indian soldiers were killed in action and four civilians lost their lives.
The Army then launched a major retaliation, attacking several Pakistani positions with anti-tank guided missiles and artillery cannons in which at least eight Pakistani soldiers were killed and 12 others wounded.
In recent weeks, the Pakistani military has aggressively targeted civilians throughout the LoC with indiscriminate fire using large-caliber artillery to support terrorist infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir, the sources said.
Sources said that the Indian army is carrying out intelligence-based targeted attacks to neutralize mostly Pakistani and foreign terrorists, and collateral damage has been very negligible in these operations.
A new pattern for Pakistan to “incite” riots and arm youth in Jammu and Kashmir is to avoid any trace of their involvement due to mounting international pressure to take action against terrorist groups operating from its territory, the said sources.
“Pakistan has tried to target Indian villagers to send a message to the people inside Kashmir that disobeying Pakistani dictates and directives on terrorism will prove deadly,” said a defense source.
“The Pakistani Army’s actions to exclusively target civilians are countered by the Indian Army’s targeted attacks on alleged launch pads within Pakistani-occupied Kashmir,” the source said, adding that the terrorists who have been killed in attacks Indians in the area are shown as civilian deaths by Pakistan.
