The Mahindra Thar has earned an impressive four-star safety rating in Global NCAP safety tests. The recently launched Mahindra Thar was tested on its basic safety specification, two airbags, and achieved 4 stars for both adult occupants and children. The Thar also complies with the UN 95 side impact regulation.

Global NCAP tested Thar’s ESC in accordance with UN regulation. The ESC was not standard on the Thar and, although the model met the minimum regulatory requirements, the car displayed unstable dynamic behavior. Global NCAP recommends a review and improvement.

“Mahindra’s commitment to safer cars is once again being shown to consumers and demonstrates that it is possible to deliver good safety performance in the Indian market. It is encouraging to see manufacturers that also offer high levels of protection for children riding in their vehicles. The Thar demonstrates Mahindra’s ability to improve the safety of its fleet. ” Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Global NCAP said:

“Another good result for Mahindra that shows the manufacturer’s commitment to safety. It is very satisfying to see this growing vehicle safety trend in the Indian auto market, combining minimal regulatory requirements with the purchasing power of #SaferCarsforIndia informed consumers, helping to drive demand for more and more vehicles. insurance. “David Ward, President, Towards Zero Foundation.

The Thar achieved four stars for the protection of adult and child occupants. The Thar offers dual front airbags as standard. The head and neck of the driver and passenger showed good protection. The driver’s chest offered adequate protection and the passenger’s chest showed good protection. The structure was rated stable but the footwell area was rated unstable, not being able to withstand additional loads. Both areas of the adult knee were optimized to reduce major injuries. Both child occupants received almost total protection during the test. The Thar offers standard ISOFIX and Top Tether anchors along with 3-point seatbelts for all seating positions.

Global NCAP gives a separate child safety rating to each car in order to highlight the different levels of protection that vehicles provide to passengers in the rear seats. Global NCAP tests a car seat and child seat combination recommended by the car manufacturer itself. Because the only safe way for young children to travel is to properly restrain themselves in a child seat, the evaluation verifies how compatible the car is with the manufacturer’s recommended child seats, as well as the protection provided in the test of shock.
