NEW DELHI: The Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 29,000 cold chain points, 240 cold rooms, 70 cold rooms, 45,000 ice-lined refrigerators, 41,000 freezers and 300 solar refrigerators will be used for the storage of Covid vaccine. -19.
Providing the details on cold chain management at a press conference here, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the Center has issued guidelines for the estimation of electrical cold chain equipment to states. and non-electrical and their strengthening.
Guidelines for cold chain management have also been issued at the last points in the cold chain and at session sites, he said.

“A total of 29,000 cold chain points, 240 cold rooms, 70 cold rooms, 45,000 ice-lined refrigerators, 41,000 freezers and 300 solar refrigerators will be used,” Bhushan said.
“All this equipment has already been delivered to the states. Some other equipment is being supplied,” he said.
In giving more details on the preparations, the senior official said that 36 states and Union territories have concluded meetings of the State Steering Committees and the State Task Force, while 633 districts have concluded meetings of the District Task Force to this respect.
Twenty-three ministries and departments of the Center and states have been identified and assigned roles such as planning, implementation, social mobilization, awareness raising, among others, for the deployment of the vaccine, he said.
Training modules for medical officers, vaccination officers, alternative vaccination officers, cold chain managers, supervisors, data managers, and ASHA coordinators were also completed, and physical training and training on virtual platforms started / online, the health secretary said.
National and state Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops were also completed, he added.
In response to a media inquiry, Bhushan said state governments have been able to create vaccination session sites even in units where the army or paramilitaries are located.
Vaccinate 100 to 200 people in each session per day, monitor them for 30 minutes after administering the injections to detect any adverse events and allow only one beneficiary at a time are some of the guidelines issued by the Center for the Covid inoculation campaign- 19.
In accordance with guidelines recently issued to states, the Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) system, a digitized platform, will be used to track beneficiaries enlisted for vaccination and coronavirus vaccines in real time.
