Rajasthan government decides to seal interstate boundaries
Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot decided on Wednesday to seal off all the interstate boundaries of Rajasthan to prevent unauthorized entry of people.
Holding a high-level meeting on Wednesday night, Gehlot ordered officials to seal the border with immediate effect and regulate interstate boundaries so that those who have permission from the state government can enter.
Gehlot said there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of new coronavirus cases in many states across the country in recent days. “It was decided to seal the borders with the possibility that large numbers of people enter without permission from other states in the country,” Gehlot said in a statement.
Only in cases of medical emergency and family death, the collector may issue an electronic pass, which must be reported to the Home Department the same day. Other than this, only after prior permission from the Rajasthan government will other states issue permits to enter Rajasthan, according to the statement.
Gehlot indicated that people who came from abroad would be quarantined for 14 days and that they would be subjected to a COVID-19 test. Those who violate the domestic quarantine directive will necessarily be placed in the government’s institutional quarantine and an FIR will also be filed against them, he said.
