The Indian Army chief’s comments about Nepal that they were acting under the orders of others in the upbringing of a border dispute has “hurt the sentiments of the Nepalese Gurkha army personnel to give their life to protect India, Nepal, the minister of defense of Ishwar Pokhrel has said.

In an interview with the Nepal news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Pokhrel, said the Indian Army chief’s remarks “have come down in a shameful way” at a time when Nepal has been trying to resolve the border issue through diplomatic dialogue.
“No matter the provenance, and the circumstances are based on these statements are an effort to offend independent and sovereign Nepal and proud Nepali… With this, the Indian CoAS [chief of army staff] it has also hurt the sentiments of the Nepalese Gurkha army personnel to give their life to protect India. There was No immediate response from the Indian side to Pokhrel of the comments.
Pokhrel also said that this is the “first time in history” that the government of Nepal had written an official letter to the government of India “, saying Nepali land in the Nepal-India border region has been invaded and this must be stopped”. He added, “We have raised this issue on the basis of the historical facts, the evidence and treaties available to us. We have published the new map of Nepal on the basis of this.”

There are more than 30,000 Gurkhas from Nepal serving in the Gurkha Rifles, the regiments of the Indian Army.
