“The history of the world tells us that only those nations that have remained safe and advanced and that had the ability to face the invaders,” he said, adding that 130 crore Indians joined the country’s soldiers and bowed before them bravely.

“They are proud of their courage,” he told the soldiers, saying that their bravery has overcome all adversities, whether in the deserts, the forests or the deep oceans.

Modi said that his Diwali was completed only after he arrived among the soldiers, adding that he couldn’t stay away from his own at this festival. He said the more time he spent with the soldiers, the stronger his determination to serve and protect the country became.

The Prime Minister referred to his government’s emphasis on self-reliance and the “vocal for the local” campaign and congratulated the Armed Forces for the decision to ban the import of more than 100 weapons and defense equipment.

Recalling the glorious battle of Longewala, he said it will always be remembered in the annals of strategic planning and military valor.
