India vs England: I didn’t find Yuvraj Singh’s tweet bad, have the utmost respect for him – R Ashwin

Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin downplayed conversations about Yuvraj Singh’s post on social media that came after he picked up his 400th wicket test in the pink ball event that ended in two days with a furious spin at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

R Ashwin, speaking to the press on Saturday, said he found nothing wrong or a hidden agenda in Yuvraj Singh’s tweet that mocked the Motera launch. Yuvraj’s tweet was not well received by a section of fans, as they used Twitter to express their disappointment. In particular, the former World Cup winning all-rounder had said that if Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble had similar pitches when playing for India, they could have finished with 800 and 1000 proving grounds respectively.

R Ashwin had shared a cryptic tweet a day after the Test, sparking speculation that it was in response to Yuvraj’s tweet and criticism of the Ahmedabad speech. However, Ashwin dismissed such speculation and said he wanted to share his thoughts on the topic and that there was nothing else.

Speaking to reporters days before the fourth and final test, Ashwin said: “The reason behind my tweets was not regarding anyone in particular. When I read Yuvi paa’s tweet, I was not affected, I did not find that tweet trying to tell us something. It felt like a simple tweet. For me, the state of mind that I’m in right now, I didn’t find it wrong.

“I have known Yuvi paa for a long time, I have the highest respect for him. Some people among us tend to buy what people sell, I don’t know the reason why certain people try to sell certain things, but it is clear that it is only one perception of what happens “.

R Ashwin and his new bowling partner in Tests, Axar Patel They were on fire in the pink ball test since they collected 18 of the 20 English lands. Joe Root’s men managed just 112 in the first inning and couldn’t make the best use of an Indian collapse in the early innings as they were knocked out for 81 in their second inning. India had just a 49-run goal and starter Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill only needed 7.4 overs to erase the goal.

As the test match ended in 2 days, the Ahmedabad field has come under intense scrutiny. Even when India’s captain Virat Kohli and his English counterpart Joe Root refused to point fingers on the field for the early finish, several former cricketers, including Michael Vaughan, Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss, have lashed out at the wicket.

Vaughan went on to say that India’s victory was “superficial” and that the ICC would be “toothless” if India were allowed to get away with it. Cook and Strauss hit Kohli after the India captain blamed the quality of batting from both sides for the 2-day finale of the Pink Ball Test.

R. Ashwin, responding to criticism, said the talk about surfaces is getting out of hand and must stop.

In particular, it was Ashwin who led the defense of the field that was offered for the second test in Chennai. England were eliminated by 134 and 164 in their two innings at Chepauk, as the pitch provided assistance to the spinners from Day 1. There were many critics of Chepauk’s pitch, but Ashwin responded with his bat hitting a hundred in the second inning. which helped India seal a mammoth 317-race victory. Notably, Rohit Sharma had posted 161 first-inning victories while sporting a cut above the rest on a challenging field.
