Australia’s batting stalwart Steve Smith started playing mind games ahead of the long-awaited Border-Gavaskar series when he challenged Indian pacemakers to bring in short bowls.

Steve Smith’s alleged vulnerability to short ball was visible during New Zealand’s last tour of Australia, where he fell four times to Neil Wagner when the Black Caps set up fields for short bowling.

The Indian quartet consisting of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav played a significant role in India’s success in 2018 and will have to play a key role if Virat Kohli’s team is to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

In particular, India defeated Australia to achieve an unprecedented victory in the test series 2-1 with Virat Kohli in 2018-19. Australia were without Steve Smith and David Warner last time, but the two stars are back and the hosts will have a slight advantage against the touring team.

“It’s not a drama for me. I just play and summarize the conditions, how they are trying to get me out and be able to counter that,” Steve Smith told News Corp.

“I mean, some different oppositions have tried and it has certainly been more difficult for them. [execute it] like Wagner did. He has an amazing skill set where his speed goes up and down, everything is between your ribs and your head.

“If the teams are trying to get me out like that, it’s probably a huge benefit to the team because it takes a lot off people’s bodies if you continually shoot short. I’ve faced a lot of short bowls in my life and I haven’t. “I had too many stresses. I guess we’ll just wait and see, “he added.

“A world-class bowling attack. And two years better,” he said. “I can’t wait to see them go. And we also have good depth. James Pattinson, who has come back from that back injury, we saw how powerful he was during the last Ashes in England. Michael Neser continues to play well” over and over again. And Sean Abbott, every Shield player I talk to says he’s playing fast. “

India will begin training while in quarantine from November 14 in Sydney. The ODI series begins on November 28 at the SCG, after which a 3-game T20 series will be played. India and Australia will meet in the long-awaited test series on December 17.
