India’s tour of Australia did not start well as they lost two ODIs on the trot in Sydney. Sunday’s 51-run loss gave the Australians an impregnable 2-0 lead, exposing the loopholes of the Indian bowling attack that has been continually failing on foreign soil.
It was the third consecutive ODI in which the opposition achieved a starting position of 100 runs against the Indian bowling attack. Former Indian starter Aakash Chopra has opined that the bowlers’ inability to pick up ground early is a bigger concern for the Indian team than the lack of an all-rounder in the lineup.
“If we look at the Indian bowling alley, it is clear that we cannot collect land with the new ball. How long has it been? In the last three consecutive ODI games, India has conceded a 100-run partnership at the top among the top two, ”Chopra said in his latest YouTube video.
“If you don’t take windows with the new ball, a window doesn’t fall in the first 20-odd overs, so whoever you play doesn’t make a difference,” he added.

Chopra also talked about Hardik Pandya, who bowled after more than a year of gap, pitching in the second ODI and beating Steve Smith. However, he calculated that if the bowlers from the strike are not between the wickets, an additional bowler will not help.
“Although we saw Hardik Pandya bowling, it was too late. He also took a wicket, fired Steve Smith. But if your best bowlers don’t take grounds, what will the sixth, seventh, or eighth option do? Chopra said.
“So this is a problem that is being magnified by the lack of an SUV, but first of all, how many of them do we have? And even if they are available, where will you play them? If you don’t take terrains at the top, it won’t help you in the middle, no matter how many offroaders you play, ”he added.
