India vs Australia: ‘KL Rahul should replace Prithvi Shaw as starter’, Sunil Gavaskar suggests major game changes XI at MCG – cricket

India suffered a terrible batting collapse against Australia on the third day of the Adelaide Test, registering their lowest total (36) in the cricket test. None of the Indian hitters were able to reach double figures during the second inning. As a result, the team led by Virat Kohli recorded a nasty eight-wicket loss to start the 4-match test series.

Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, which kicks off on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar declared that India should hit the ground with a lot of positive intention and start over.

“India should start the Melbourne Test well, they need to hit the ground with a lot of positivity. Australia’s weak point is their hitting, ”Sunil Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

“India has to believe that it can come back in the rest of the test series. If India does not find positivity, then a 4-0 series defeat may occur. But if they have positivity, why not? It can happen (return). It is natural that there is anger after such a performance. But in cricket anything can happen. Look at how the scene was yesterday and what happened today, ”added Gavaskar.

The batting legend pointed out how the Indians’ sloppy fielding and wrong field locations favored the Australians in the early innings. Gavaskar said that if India hadn’t made those mistakes, it could have taken a lead of more than 100 races.

“If we had kept our catches well and had good locations in the field, there might not have been any problem, Tim Paine and Marnus Labuschagne would have started early. We could have a 120-run lead. Australia took the lead in Testing because of those lost catches, they lowered the lead to 50 runs, ”added Gavaskar.

At last, Gavaskar spoke about the two possible changes that can be made for the Melbourne Test. He endorsed the selection of Rahul in place of Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill in the middle order.

“India will seek to make 2 changes. First of all, maybe Kl Rahul should replace Prithvi Shaw as starter. In the 5th or 6th place, Shubman Gill should enter. His form has been good. Things can change if we start well, “said Gavaskar.
