“Vihari has a very solid technique and temperament and can serve this test team for a long time. In Virat’s absence, it would be a great opportunity for him and KL (Rahul) to stand up and be counted, ”Prasad told PTI.

Vihari, who made his Indian debut with Prasad, during the test series against England in 2018 and turned half a century into his debut, came to the Adelaide test at the turn of a century in the pink ball warm-up match against Australia. A, but posted scores of 16 and 8 in Adelaide. In the past, India has used Vihari as a starter, the Boxing Day Test in 2018, against Australia and did a commendable job seeing the new ball.

While Rahul has played his entire Test career for India opening batting, Prasad feels it wouldn’t be a bad idea for team management to push him to No. 6, where Vihari hits.

“I’d rather Vihari hit No. 4 or 5 in the next Trials and face the challenge. He is a brave boy and I am confident that he will do well if challenged. KL can be a good number 6 in this series, ”he said.
