India vs Australia: ‘But if their middle order doesn’t work …’ – Shoaib Akhtar weighs why the India team could have cricket problems

India’s four-match test series against Australia will be a contest that the entire cricket world will watch closely given the rivalry the two teams share. India and Australia, along with England, are the top nations in the world playing trials and it will be fascinating to watch a battle between these two teams in Australian conditions.

Add to that the fact that the Australians will seek revenge, having lost the Test series under local conditions two years ago, and this is a real battle on hold. Indian captain Virat Kohli will return from the tour after the first test to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as the couple are expecting their first child.

Kohli’s absence will make India’s job more difficult, but former Pakistani Shoaib Akhtar believes India has the ability to win a series of tests again in Australia, but could run into trouble if the middle order doesn’t work out.

“In my opinion, India has the ability to win again. But if their middle order doesn’t work, I see them struggling. People will watch this series with great interest, including me, ”Akhtar told the PTI news agency.

India is expected to play the opening test in Adelaide, which will be the first day and night test between the two teams and which, according to Akhtar, will be the biggest challenge of the tour.

“The day-night test will be your toughest test. If India plays well in those conditions, you never know. The first two innings of the first test will tell us where the series is going. ”Akhtar said.

He further added that Indian hitters will have to quickly get used to the conditions and adapt to the pace and rebound of Australian pitches.

“It takes two or three inputs to control that forward trigger movement in external conditions. You can’t drive higher and you have to play close to your body, “he said.
