India vs Australia, Boxing Day Test: Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Md. Siraj playing XI, no room for KL Rahul | Cricket news

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Saint Stephen’s day test in Melbourne, Team India on Friday announced Game XI which saw the highly anticipated inclusion of Shubman gill but it also saw the surprise exclusion of KL Rahul.
Gill, 21, will make his Test debut and replaced Prithvi Shaw, who scored 0 and 4 in the two innings of the first Test. Interestingly, Shubman played under Prithvi Shaw’s captaincy in the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup which India won.
Pacemaker Mohammed Siraj it will also make its debut in Test. Got the go-ahead before Navdeep Saini to replace Mohammed shami, who was presumably previously ruled out of the rest of the series with a fractured wrist, although there has yet to be official confirmation of this from the BCCI.
All terrain Ravindra Jadeja, who did not participate in the last two games of the T20I series, was also included in the XI after recovering from a concussion and a hamstring injury.
Seeking to boost the batting order, the selectors also included Rishabh pants in place of goalkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who battled the bat at the Adelaide Test.

Ajinkya Rahane (captain)
Mayank Agarwal
Shubman gill
Cheteshwar Pujara
Hanuma Vihari
Rishabh Trousers (gate keeper)
Ravindra Jadeja

In the absence of Kohli, Rahane could hit No. 4 while Vihari could rise to No. 5. Shubman is expected to open innings with Mayank Agarwal.
Cheteshwar Pujara will be the vice captain of the Indian team.
India is currently trailing Australia 0-1 in the 4-game series, after losing the first game of the series, the Adelaide Day / Night Test by 8 wickets in three days.
