Air traffic between India and the United Kingdom, which was suspended last month by the center due to the detection of a highly contagious strain of coronavirus in the European country, will resume from January 8, the Minister of Civil Aviation reported this Friday. the Union, Hardeep Singh Puri.

The center had initially announced a ban on flights from the UK from December 23 to December 31. On Wednesday, the government extended the suspension of flights until January 7.
The strain, which was first detected in September and confirmed by UK authorities in December, is said to be more infectious than other strains of the virus. It was first detected in India last week in a traveler who had recently returned from the European country.
Four new cases of the strain were detected in India on Friday, bringing the total to 29.
All 29 patients have been kept in isolation in designated health facilities.
In addition to India, cases of the new strain have also been detected in Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Japan, Lebanon and Singapore.
