BALASORE: India on Wednesday successfully launched a medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) from Odisha coast, defense sources said. The missile was fired from a land mobile launcher on launch pad number 1 in the integrated test range (ITR) around 3.55pm around here, and it hit the target with precision, sources said.
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ‘Banshee‘, was first released on air, which was hit by MRSAM.
The DRDO has jointly developed the missile in collaboration with Israel aerospace industries.
The MRSAM has been manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Ltd.
After joining the Indian army, the missile will significantly improve the combat effectiveness of defense forces, they said.
The entire trajectory of the mission from launch to sinking at sea was monitored by various radars and electro-optical instruments, the sources said.
