India on Monday with success flight-tested a hypersonic technology Demo vehicle (HSTDV) from the APJ Abdul Kalam (Wheeler Island) Proving Ground in Balasore, Odisha.
The technology has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
With the successful launch, The organization has demonstrated capabilities for a highly complex technology that will serve as the cornerstone for NextGen hypersonic vehicles in partnership with the industry, DRDO said in a tweet.
DRDO said: “On a landmark mission today, India successfully piloted the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV), a giant leap forward in indigenous defense technologies and a significant milestone towards #sashaktbharat and #atmanirbharbharat.”

The DRDO President congratulated all scientists, researchers and other personnel associated with the #HSTDV mission for “their determined and unwavering efforts to strengthen the nation’s defense capabilities.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated DRDO after the test.
