India successfully flight tests advanced missile and torpedo system

DRDO successfully flight tests supersonic missile-assisted torpedo launch (SMART).

New Delhi:

India successfully flight-tested the supersonic missile-assisted torpedo launch (SMART) from Wheeler Island off the coast of Odisha on Monday.

All mission objectives, including missile flight to range and altitude, nose cone separation, torpedo release and deployment of the speed reduction mechanism (VRM), were perfectly met in the test. Of flight.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on the success.

“The DRDO has successfully flight-tested Torpedo’s supersonic missile-assisted launch, SMART. This will be a technological breakthrough for engagement capability in anti-submarine warfare. I congratulate DRDO and other stakeholders on this significant achievement,” he wrote. Rajnath Singh in the tweet. read.

SMART is a missile-assisted launch of the light antisubmarine torpedo system for antisubmarine warfare (ASW) operations far beyond the range of torpedoes. This launch and demo are important in establishing ASW capabilities.

Speaking of which, DRDO President Dr. G Satheesh Reddy said, “SMART is a revolutionary technology demonstration at ASW.”

Today’s events were monitored by tracking stations (radars, electro-optical systems) along the coast and telemetry stations, including lower-ranking ships.

Several DRDO labs, including DRDL, RCI Hyderabad, ADRDE Agra, NSTL Visakhapatnam, have developed the technologies needed for SMART.

Earlier this month, DRDO had successfully tested the laser-guided anti-tank guided missile. The test was conducted by MBT Arjun at KK Ranges (ACC & S) Ahmednagar in continuation with the successful tests conducted on September 22.
