India reports highest jump in one day in covid cases in approximately two weeks, at 83.64 lakh


With an increase of 50,209 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country reached 83,64,086, data from the Ministry of Health shared on Thursday showed.

The death toll rose to 1,24315 after 704 more deaths were reported in a 24-hour span.

Active cases in the country now stand at 5,27,962 after a decrease of 5,825 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 77,11,809 people have recovered from the infection with 55,331 new discharges.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a cumulative total of 11,42,08,384 samples have been analyzed as of November 4, and 12,09,425 samples were analyzed yesterday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the country reported 46,254 new cases of the new coronavirus, bringing the nation’s tally to 83,13,877.

Covid-19 global envelope

The total number of global Covid-19 cases was approaching 48 million, while deaths rose to more than 1,223,450, according to a Johns Hopkins University report.

As of today morning, the total number of cases and deaths amounted to 47,997,816 and 1,223,456, respectively, according to data from the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE).

The United States is the most affected country in the world with the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths with 9,477,709 and 233,651, respectively.

India comes next in terms of coronavirus cases with 83.64,086, while the country’s death toll soared to 1.24,315.

Will a Covid vaccine be ready for Christmas?

When asked if the coronavirus vaccine would be ready before Christmas, the lead investigator for the Oxford vaccine trial, Andrew Pollard, said: “There is a small possibility.”

The coronavirus vaccine developed by Oxford University could present late-stage trial results before the end of the year, but it is not yet clear whether it will be released before Christmas, said the head of the Oxford vaccine trial.

“I am optimistic that we could get to that point before the end of the year,” the news agency said. Reuters Pollard quoted as saying.
