India’s count of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) stood at 59,662 after 3,320 new cases and 95 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Saturday.
According to the control panel of the health ministry at 8 am, there are 39,834 active cases and 17,847 people who have been cured or discharged or have migrated across the country.
Lav Agarwal, joint secretary of the ministry, said during a press conference on the situation of Covid-19 in India, that the rate of duplication of cases has recently been reduced.
“We will have to learn to live with the virus. All practices must be implemented as a behavior change. The challenge is enormous, we need everyone’s support, “added Agarwal.
The health ministry has also revised its guidelines for the discharge of patients with Covid-19, saying that only severe cases will be evaluated once through the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method, after symptoms disappear.
The other category of patients, including very mild, mild, pre-symptomatic and moderate cases, do not need to be evaluated before being discharged.
The revised guidelines are in complete contrast to previous government guidelines that stated that a laboratory-confirmed case had to be tested on the 14th once and then again within 24 hours, and the patient would be fit for discharge alone. if both results are negative
“After discharge from the center, if symptoms develop again … contact the COVID Care Center or the State Help Line or 1075,” according to the new rules.
Globally, more than 3.9 million people have contracted the coronavirus disease and 274,898 have died, according to the Johns Hopkins tracker.
