India rejects OIC reference to Kashmir

It is regrettable that it continues to allow a certain country to use it, says New Delhi.

India on Sunday “vigorously” rejected criticism of its Kashmir policy by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Foreign Ministry hinted at Pakistan and said that the OIC is being used by that country for its campaign against India. “We strongly and categorically reject the objectively incorrect, gratuitous and unjustified references to India in the resolutions adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the 47th Session of the CFM in Niamey, Republic of Niger, held from November 27 to 28, 2020, “the Ministry said.

The report of the OIC Secretary General on his activities presented to the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers referred to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and said: “The decision of the Government of India on August 5, 2019 of changing the demographic and geographical composition of the territory, and the blockade and continuous restrictions, together with human rights violations, had awakened renewed efforts by the international community towards the resolution of the conflict ”.

The statement also recognized the support Pakistan has been providing to keep the Kashmir issue on the organization’s agenda. In response, the MEA said: “It is regrettable that the OIC continues to allow a certain country, which has an abominable record of religious tolerance, radicalism and persecution of minorities, to indulge in anti-India propaganda.”
