India registers 43,893 new cases of Covid-19 and the count is close to eight million; 508 deaths in the last 24 hours


A day after India reported its lowest daily new coronavirus (Covid-19) count since July, the country recorded nearly 44,000 new infections, bringing its overall count closer to the eight million mark, the dashboard showed on Wednesday. of the Ministry of Health of the Union.

With 43,893 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases from India has reached 7,990,322. This comes a day after the country recorded 36,370 infections, its lowest count in a single day since July 18, when 34,884 cases were recorded.

Continuing the recent trend of more recoveries in one day than new cases, 58,439 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 7,259,509. Meanwhile, the death toll reached the 1.2 lakh mark with 508 new deaths.

Active cases remain below the seven lakh mark, at 610,803. Recoveries, active cases and deaths make up 90.62%, 7.88% and 1.50%, respectively, of the total number of Covid-19 cases in India.

Also on Wednesday, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) said it had analyzed a total of 105,487,680 samples for the virus so far. Of these, he said, 1,066,786 samples were analyzed on Oct. 26.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry (MHA) announced that the guidelines issued on September 30, for the fifth phase of the October national unblocking, will remain in effect until November 30. The guidelines had allowed the reopening of movie theaters, multiplexes, sports training pools, entertainment parks, etc. starting October 15 with strict Covid-19 restrictions.
