The number of cases of the coronavirus disease in India (Covid-19) stands at 9,266,706 after 44,489 infections were recorded between Wednesday and Thursday, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who earlier this week chaired a meeting with states on the Covid-19 situation and to discuss the distribution plan of a possible Covid-19 vaccine, will visit the development centers of vaccines in Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad.

PM Modi will visit the Serum Institute of India (SII) based in Pune and Bharat Biotech International Limited from Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala remain the five most affected states. Delhi, which has been the epicenter of the recent Covid-19 surge in India, ranks sixth. On Thursday, the Delhi high court ordered the Delhi government to immediately make a decision on the night curfew and implement it “without delay”.
