With 45,149 new coronavirus infections, India’s total cases rose to 79,09,960 on Monday. India on Monday recorded its lowest death toll in about four months with 480 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 119,014.
The total of active coronavirus cases in India stands at 6,53,717 after a decrease of 14,437 in the last 24 hours.
India has cured a total of 71,37,229 coronavirus cases with 59,105 new downloads in the last 24 hours.
The second most populous country in the world also has the second highest number of infections after the United States, which has about 8.1 million.
“India has crossed historic milestones in its fight against # COVID19. Over 70 Lakh patients have been cured and discharged so far. This has led to an increase in the national recovery rate, which exceeded 90%,” he said the union health ministry.
India has recorded the steepest weekly drop so far in Covid-19 numbers in India, new infections recorded this week (Oct 19-25). New covid infections were almost 16% less than the previous week’s count, while deaths from the virus decreased 19% during this period.
