India saw a record single-day increase in coronavirus cases and deaths related to the highly infectious disease with 96,551 new infections and 1,209 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, exceeding 45 lakh, government data showed this. morning.

The recovery rate stood at 77.76 percent this morning, while the death rate stood at 1.6 percent.

The positivity rate, an indicator of the prevalence of the disease, was reported to be 8.2 percent this morning, compared to 8.4 percent yesterday.

So far, samples of approximately Rs 5.4 million have been tested in the country with a population of approximately Rs 130 million. More than 11.6 lakhs of samples have been tested since yesterday; the largest number of samples, 11,72,179, were analyzed in September, government data shows.
