Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India’s response to terrorism has undergone a paradigm shift and that the country’s defense mechanism now includes not only the investigation of terrorist activities internally but also externally. Singh reiterated that India is no longer an easy target for terrorists and some of our neighbors may have to pay a heavy price for making terrorism a state policy.
“There has been a sea change in the way we deal with terrorist attacks on our soil. We are not only investigating within the country, but we have also penetrated deep into neighboring territory to eliminate the terrorist camps in 2019 after the Pulwama attack, ”Singh said. He reminded the nation that today’s date, November 26, is of utmost importance in the history of national security. It was on this day, 12 years ago, that a group of heavily armed terrorists sneaked into the country by sea route and systematically attacked the country’s financial capital – Mumbai.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly raised the issue of terrorist financing in various world forums. It is because of the country’s efforts that neighbors like Pakistan have been forced to explain their position to global terrorism watchdogs like the Financial Action Task Force, ”Singh said.
In a direct reference to Pakistan and emphasizing how terrorism was almost a state policy in that country, Singh said that the blacklisting by the FATF would eventually turn out to be the final nail in the coffin of state-sponsored terror.

The Defense Minister spoke on the third day of the 18th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020, in conversation with Prashant Jha, opinion editor, Hindustan Times. The session comes at a time when the country is caught in a border clash with China on the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh since May this year.
The President of the State Bank of India, Dinesh Kumar Khara, and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, were among the other speakers who attended Thursday’s session of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020.
