New Delhi: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday that India was being tested in the seven-month-long border clash with China in eastern Ladakh and expressed confidence that it will rise to the occasion and face the challenge. national security challenge. In an interactive session at the FICCI annual general meeting, Jaishankar also said that what happened in eastern Ladakh was not actually of interest to China as it has had a significant impact on public sentiment in India.

Calling the “events” along the Royal Line of Control (ALC) as very worrying, the foreign minister said they have raised some “basic concerns.” When asked if it will be a long-term breakthrough or is a breakthrough expected soon, Jaishankar said: “It would not go into the prediction zone at all whether it will be easy or not, and what the deadlines will be, etc.”

“I also think that what has actually happened is not in the interest of China. Because what it has done is: it has had a significant impact on public sentiment (in India). Professionally, I have seen the evolution of how the public feels. Indian over China for the last few decades and I’m old enough to remember much more difficult days, especially in my childhood and adolescence, “he said.

Jaishankar said that a lot of work had been done to develop the relationship of both parties. “I don’t think the events of this year have helped at all. In fact, I think the real danger is that the goodwill that was so carefully developed will dissipate.” “But I would also say that, yes, we are being tested. I have every confidence that we will rise to the occasion; we will overcome that national security challenge. But beyond that, at this point, I would frankly keep mine.” Jaishankar said.

The armies of India and China have been locked in a tense border clash in eastern Ladakh since early May. Both sides have held multiple rounds of military and diplomatic talks. However, no progress has yet been made.
