NEW DELHI: India on Thursday denied the claim by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran khanNew Delhi’s national security adviser sent a message to Islamabad indicating the desire for talks between the two countries.
“Regarding the alleged message, let me clarify that no message was sent from us,” said foreign affairs ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava.
He responded to questions at a press conference about Pakistani Prime Minister Moeed Yusuf’s National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf’s comments during an interview on The Wire news website that India sent a message to Pakistan with the desire to talk.
In the interview, Yusuf commented on a variety of topics including cashmere.
“We have seen reports about a senior Pakistani official interviewing an Indian media outlet. He has commented on the internal affairs of India,” Srivastava said.
“As always, this is Pakistan’s effort to divert attention from the internal failings of the current government and mislead its national constituents by making India headlines on a daily basis,” he added.
Srivastava said the official is right to restrict his council to his establishment and not comment on India’s domestic politics.
“The statements made by him are contrary to the facts on the ground, misleading and fictitious,” the MEA spokesman said.
In response to a separate question, Srivastava said that India will deliver a kilo-class submarine to the Myanmar Navy.
