India on Sunday lashed out strongly at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), accusing it of making “objectively incorrect and unjustified” references to Jammu and Kashmir in resolutions passed by the group at a meeting in Niger, and asserting that the union’s territory it is an integral and inalienable part of the country.

In a strong statement, India recommended to the OIC that it refrain from making such references in the future, saying it is regrettable that the group continues to allow itself to be used by a certain country “which has an abominable record of religious tolerance, radicalism and persecution of minorities. “in a clear reference to Pakistan.

The 47th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) at its November 27-29 meeting in Niamey, Niger, made a reference to India on its policies on Jammu and Kashmir.

“We strongly and categorically reject the objectively incorrect, gratuitous and unjustified references to India in the resolutions adopted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) at the 47th Session of the CFM in Niamey,” said the MEA.

“We have always maintained that the OIC has no locus standi in strictly internal affairs of India, including the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India,” he said.

The OIC is a grouping of Muslim-majority nations.

“It is regrettable that the OIC continues to allow itself to be used by a certain country, which has an abominable record of religious tolerance, radicalism and persecution of minorities, to indulge in anti-India propaganda,” the MEA said.

He said that India strongly advises the OIC to refrain from making such references in the future.
