NEW DELHI: India’s Covid-19 count surpassed the 38 lakh mark on Thursday with the sharpest peak in a single day of 83,883 new cases, while the number of recoveries rose to 29,70,492, leading to the recovery rate to more than 77%. Data from the Union Ministry of Health showed.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 38,53,406, while the death toll rose to 67,376 when 1,043 people succumbed to the disease in a span of 24 hours, the updated data showed at 8 a.m.
The national recovery rate for Covid-19 has increased to 77.09 percent and the fatality rate due to the infection has further decreased to 1.75 percent.
There are 8,15,538 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, comprising 21.16 percent of total cases, according to the data.
