India and China are conducting the seventh round of corps commander-level talks to reduce tension across LAC that has been festering since May 2020. The Indian side has been demanding a comprehensive disengagement at all hotspots. and the restoration of the status quo before the beginning of April 2020 China, on the other hand, wants India to withdraw from all strategic heights on the southern shore of Pangong Tso. The Indian forces had taken an aggressive position and had occupied various strategic heights in the southern and northern Pangong Lake area, anticipating Chinese attempts to seize control. After the sixth round of talks, the two sides issued a joint statement in which they agreed not to send any more troops to the front. The seventh round of talks would be the last to be attended by the current commander of the Corps of Fire and Fury, Lieutenant General Harinder Singh. The two sides have become embroiled in a dispute throughout LAC with China that attempts to change the status quo several times.
