NEW DELHI: India and China in the eighth round of military talks agreed to seriously implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries.
The two sides also agreed to ensure that their front-line troops act sparingly and avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations, according to a joint statement.
Both parties also agreed to maintain dialogue and communication through military and diplomatic channels and, making progress in the discussions, to press for other pending issues to be resolved, in order to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.
The joint statement said that two sides had a sincere, in-depth and constructive exchange of views on the disengagement along the Royal Line of Control in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas.
They also agreed to have another round of meetings soon.
The two countries have been involved in a border clash since May 2020. Tensions escalated to a new record when a clash between soldiers from the two countries in Galwan led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers. China has not officially recognized its casualties in the fighting.
