Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his keynote address at the third leadership summit of the United States Strategic Forum and Partnership with India (USISPF) on Thursday.
“When 2020 started, did anyone imagine how it would develop? A global pandemic has impacted everyone. It is testing our resilience, our public health system, and our economic system. The current situation demands a new mentality where the development approach is centered on the human being, ”said the prime minister.
Speaking about the Covid-19 death rate in India, the prime minister said it was one of the lowest per million in the world.
“India, a country with 1.3 billion people and limited resources, has one of the lowest death rates per million in the world. The rate of recovery is also steadily increasing, ”Prime Minister Modi said at the summit.
He further said that while the coronavirus had affected several things, it had not affected people’s aspirations and ambitions. “In recent months, there have been far-reaching reforms that are facilitating business and decreasing the red tap,” added the prime minister. India is at the forefront of Covid-19 vaccine research, he said.
The theme of the 5-day Summit that began on August 31 is “United States-India navigating new challenges.”
