New Delhi:
India and China have prepared a three-phase plan for disengagement in eastern Ladakh, where the two sides have been at a stalemate since May this year, high-level government sources said.
However, there is still no signature or agreement on the implementation of the plan, the sources said. No time frame has been agreed to implement the plan; nor is it decided to what extent it will happen between the two parties.
The disconnect includes Chinese and Indian forces withdrawing armored tanks and armored personnel carriers near the Royal Line of Control. The Chinese would return to the Finger 8 region on the north shore of Pangong Lake, leaving their existing positions vacant. India, in turn, would return to the position it had before the tension began.
India would push back forces on the southern shore of Pangong, where India dominates the heights to positions before the tension began.
India has been on the alert since the clash in the Galwan Valley in June this year in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives, as did many Chinese soldiers, including a commanding officer.
The Indian security establishment, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defense Chief of Staff General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, and Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria, had responded with strong military measures such as occupying the dominant heights along the south and north. shore of Pangong Lake in LAC.
While China mobilized its troops in a massive deployment throughout LAC, India moved about 60,000 troops for advanced deployments, in addition to bringing in reserve divisions.
