IND vs ENG: Twitter greets team India after leveling test series 1-1

India beat England 317 runs in Test 2 at the MA Chidambram Stadium in Chennai to level the four-game series at 1-1. After losing the initial test by 227 runs, India came back roaring to beat the visitors from start to finish. In a pitch that took its turn from Day 1, the Indian spinners, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, turned to themselves and tormented the English batters. With the bat, Rohit Sharma was India’s hero in the opening innings, while Ashwin, who took a total of eight wickets in the game, hit a sensational 106 in the second inning.

Twitter was in euphoria after India’s massive victory. The cricketers, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, all praised India’s incredible performance in the second test.

India entered the match after being outscored by Joe Root and England in the first test in Chennai. Despite the fact that the second test took place in the same location, the pitch for the second test looked very different.

India won the toss and chose to hit, but suffered a setback almost immediately when Shubman Gill was sacked by a duck. Rohit Sharma took center stage in a field that was already beginning to crumble.

Along with Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit put India in a position of strength as India posted 329 in the early innings. Rohit was fired by a brilliant 161, while Rishabh Pant provided some late fireworks to mark another half century.

England were on the defensive from the start with Ishant Sharma firing Rory Burns in the first over. Ashwin and rookie Axar Patel then dismantled the opposition and the former achieved his 29th round of five wickets in test cricket.

England were eliminated by a measly 134, giving India a huge advantage.

India came out to bat in the second inning with purpose. But a flurry of land on the morning of the 3rd gave England a glimmer of hope. Virat Kohli and Ashwin, however, ended any chance of an England revival with an excellent 96-run position.

Ashwin went on to reach his fifth Test Hundred when England was forced to work with India in setting a mammoth goal of 482 runs.

The Indian spinners once again came to the fore in the second inning, causing all 10 plots to fall. Axar Patel recorded a maiden haul of five plots, Ashwin had three layoffs to her name, while Kuldeep Yadav contributed two plots.
