India eliminated England from contention at the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in June with their 10-wicket triumph in the third day-night event in Ahmedabad, propelling the hosts to the top of the standings. India now has to win or draw the final game here from March 4 to claim the right to face New Zealand at the Lord’s. The Black Caps have already qualified and rank second on the latest list. “England has fallen to 64.1 percentage points on the points table, which is now led by India with 71 percentage points,” the ICC stated.

“England are out of the running for a place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship after losing the third Test against India in Ahmedabad,” he added.

England, now down 2-1 in the four-game series, needed to win the four-game series 3-1 to play the final on June 18-22.

New Zealand is assured of a place in the final with 70 percentage points.

If India loses the final test, Australia, which is in third place with 69.2 percentage points, will sneak in to reach the final. Before the resounding victory here in two days, India was second in the table.
