New Delhi:
A pair of fortified bunkers are seen atop a ridge on the Pakistani-occupied side across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Seconds later, a cloud of smoke engulfs the enemy structure as it collapses: the Indian Army artillery team just scored a direct hit with a round fired from long range. Soon, more projectiles are seen exploding on the hillside.
All this was seen in videos released by army sources.
In various videos shared by them, several Pakistani fuel and ammunition storage buildings are also seen on fire after direct hits from Indian artillery fire, anti-tank guided missiles and rockets. However, more images show orange flames shooting from one of the structures as the fire intensifies and “cooks” the stored ammunition.
In another video, a Pakistani soldier is seen running for safety as an anti-tank guided missile fired by the Indian army flies into a bunker. Score a direct hit. Within seconds, two more missiles fired by the Indian army hit the same bunker.
The Pakistani army began attacking Indian positions along the LoC in various sectors, including Dawar, Keran, Uri, and Naugam, using mortars and other heavy weapons. They focused their fire on civilian areas, army sources said. Four soldiers were killed in action and three were wounded. Three civilians also lost their lives.
Indian artillery soon opened in retaliation and destroyed Pakistani military structures.
“Our troops retaliated strongly causing substantial damage to the Pakistani Army infrastructure and casualties throughout the LoC. Several ammunition depots and terrorist launch pads have been damaged,” said an Army source.
The Pakistan shooting occurred when some terrorists tried to cross into India from the Keran sector. The infiltration attempt was stopped by Indian troops at outposts, army sources said.
Seven Pakistani soldiers were killed and 12 wounded in the retaliatory artillery barrage of India, army sources said.
This was the second infiltration attempt in a week. The previous infiltration attempt in the Machhal sector from November 7-8 was also stopped and three terrorists were shot dead.
