New Delhi:

High-level core teams have been dispatched to four more states, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, to help state governments address the rise of Covid. Last week, the Union Government sent teams to Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Manipur. All of these states have reported an increase in the number of active cases.

“These three-member teams will visit districts reporting high numbers of COVID-19 cases and support state efforts to strengthen containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of positive cases. The central teams should also guide in the effective management of challenges related to timely diagnosis and monitoring, “the government said in a statement.

Over the past 24 hours, the number of coronavirus cases in the country increased by 45,209, bringing the total number of infections to 90.95 lakh, government data showed. Delhi remains the hardest hit in terms of the daily rally, which has been in an upward spiral since the last week of October.
