The Delhi Metro will resume services from September 7 in a phased manner after almost five months of being suspended due to the Covid-19 situation.

The subway trains will start operating in three stages in Unlock 4. In the first phase, that is, from September 7 to 10, the Yellow Line and the Gurugram Rapid Metro will be open for passengers from 7 am to 11 am, and then from 4 pm to 8 pm. This will be followed by the Blue Line and the Pink Line on September 9. Starting September 10, the metro will also resume services on the Red Line (Rithala to Shaheed Sthal), the Green Line and the Violet Line.

In the second stage, which begins on September 11, the truncated schedule will be increased from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the Magenta and Gray lines will also be put into operation.

In the third stage that begins on September 12, the Delhi Metro operations are expected to return to full functionality. The service hours will revert to their pre-closing hours, from 6 am to 11 pm At the same time, the services of the Airport Express Line (Dwarka sector-21-New Delhi Railway Station) will also be open to passengers.

With closed token counters, limited entry and exit points, thermal scanner and disinfectant dispenser before entry points at stations, social distancing signs / stickers at stations and inside trains, staff wearing masks and face shields and kiosks outside stations to buy masks, a lot has changed for the Delhi Metro to avoid overcrowding in times of Covid-19.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has stepped up preparations as it will open the doors to travelers four days from now.
