In a major reform within the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Saturday BJP national chairman Jagat Prakash Nadda shuffled some top positions with some names removed and few faces presented from states where the party is trying to develop leadership.
The decision comes ahead of Bihar’s crucial assembly elections, in which the party fared miserably in 2015 after an impressive performance in the 2014 elections in Lok Sabha. At that time, the JD (U) was part of the Grand Alliance with RJD and Congress.
While NTR’s daughter Purandeshwari was appointed General Secretary, Ram Madhav, Murlidhar Rao and Anil Jain were removed from this senior position. Tarun Chug of Punjab has also been hired as general secretary after Akalis retired from the government.
The daughter of former Union Minister Gopinath Munde Pankaja is now party secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has been appointed Vice President of the BJP.
