MUMBAI: Former Prime Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the BJP Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday he said that the government led by Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray will fall on its own and said that although the BJP is not considering a changing of the guard in the state, it will provide an alternative option.
“If we talk about this in the context of Maharashtra, it has increased our confidence. “This type of government cannot continue for long. When this government falls, we will provide an alternative government. But today this is not our priority. There is an unprecedented agrarian crisis in Maharashtra. Farmers are concerned. The government has not provided funding. Assistance to them. Being an opposition party, we are with the farmers and questioning the government, “he said.
Fadnavis said that the electoral victory in Bihar would have its impact on both national politics and in West Bengal, which is heading for the Assembly elections in 2021.
“This will have an impact on national politics and in Bengal as well. We can see the wind of change in Bengal. After the elections in Bengal, the BJP will also form the government there,” he added.
Fadnavis, who was in charge of the BJP poll for the Bihar elections, said there was a position in favor of the NDA government in the state.
“This election turned into a pro-incumbent election. People trust Modi ji and voted for the NDA. Nitish Kumar’s good image also helped us,” he said.
When asked if the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) was affecting the NDA’s count, he said: “Even if they weren’t with us, we got a clear majority. We are happy that our alliance is forming the government.”
Results from the assembly’s 243 constituencies declared Wednesday in which NDA secured 125 seats. BJP recorded victories in 74 constituencies, JD (U) in 43, Vikassheel Insaan Party in 4 and Hindustani Awam Morcha in 4.
The opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance won a tally of 110 seats, of which RJD won 75, Congress won 19 and the Left won 16 seats.
