Prime Minister Narendra Modi taunted the opposition late Thursday while responding to model and actor Milind Soman’s wishes for his 70th birthday.

In a series of late-night tweets, Prime Minister Modi also indirectly accused the opposition of misleading farmers against the bills.
The Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers Agreement (Empowerment and Protection) on Price Guarantee and Agricultural Services, 2020 were passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday amid protests and opposition strikes, followed by the resignation of Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal from the Union Cabinet.
Assuring that the MSP and public procurement system will continue, the Prime Minister said that “many powers are engaged in creating confusion among farmers.”
“The passage of historic land reform bills in Lok Sabha is an important moment for farmers and the agricultural sector of the country. These bills will really free farmers from middlemen and all obstacles,” Modi said in a series of tweets.
“This land reform will provide new opportunities for farmers to sell their products, which will increase their profits. This will give our agricultural sector the benefit of modern technology, while empowering farmers.
“There are many powers that are trying to confuse farmers. I assure my farmer brothers and sisters that the MSP and government procurement system will continue. This bill will actually provide many more options for farmers. They are truly empowering.”
