New Delhi:
The BJP announced on Saturday that it would replace high-level leaders such as Ram Madhav, P Muralidhar Rao, Anil Jain, Saroj Pandey as general secretaries with fresh faces in a shakeup of party officials.
Notable changes include the appointment of Tejasvi Surya, a Karnataka MP, as president of the Yuva Morcha youth wing in place of Poonam Mahajan.
The party increased the number of national spokespersons to 23 and MP Anil Baluni retained the position of head of the media and was elevated as main spokesperson.
The new spokespersons include Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Sanju Verma, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Aparajita Sarangi, Heena Gavit, M Kikon, Nupur Sharma, Raju Bisht, and KK Sharma.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the changes on Twitter.

The new appointments were announced by BJP President JP Nadda in a shakeup that, according to party sources, was aimed at combining young people, women and experienced faces.
Radha Mohan Singh, Mukul Roy, Rekha Verma, Annapurna Devi, Bharti Shiyal, DK Aruna, M Chuba Ao, AP Abdullakutty were appointed national vice presidents in the reorganization.
Among the newly appointed general secretaries were Dushyant Kumar Gautam, D Purandeswari, CT Ravi, and Tarun Chugh.
Other appointments include K Laxman as head of the Morcha OBC (Other Backward Classes), Jamal Siddiqui as head of the minority wing and Lal Singh Arya as head of the Morcha SC (Scheduled Breeds).
Ram Madhav reacted to the new appointments on Twitter, saying, “Congratulations to the newly appointed BJP officials. Thankful to the party leaders for giving me the opportunity to serve a term as Gen Sec.”
