“There is an area of extremely low pressure in the Bay of Bengal and the clouds developed because they would be floating over Maharashtra from October 14 to 16,” an official told the PTI news agency.
“It would result in heavy to extremely heavy rains in some parts of Maharashtra,” the official added.

- The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the advisory for more than 15 districts in Maharashtra, including Kolhapur, Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Osmanabad.

“If planned systematically, flood water, drainage and sewage can be diverted to Thane (adjacent to Mumbai), and all the diverted influx can be stored in a dam after treating the water midway,” He said.
