NPTEL has started granting ‘domain certification’. “A domain comprises a set of core and elective NPTEL courses. Those who complete a mastery (specific core courses + elective courses) with an average score of 60 will earn a certificate of mastery from NPTEL. There are no additional charges / fees involved in obtaining domain certification. There are 44 domains in 12 disciplines available now and more are in the works, ”said Professor Andrew Thangaraj, coordinator of SWAYAM-NPTEL-IIT Madras.

As part of the course, students will be required to watch online videos, submit assignments weekly, and register for a proctored in-person final exam. More than 1.2 million students have joined NPTEL courses to date, according to official data. NPTEL’s videos have received more than a billion views so far, he says.
