IIM CAT 2020: Dress Code, Important Guidelines to Follow

IIM CAT 2020: The Indian Institute of Administration (IIM) Indore will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 on Nov 29 in three sessions for admissions to B schools across the country including IIMs. A total of 2,27,835 candidates had registered to take the exam from across the country. The exam will be done by computer and in English. It would consist of some multiple choice questions. For all PEMs, there will be a negative score, while for other questions, no points will be deducted for wrong answers. This year, the length of time has been revised to 120 minutes and 40 minutes for each section.

Since the exam will take place in the middle of a pandemic, special instructions must be followed including a mask, disinfectants, and social distancing. Here’s a look at all the rules you need to know before entering the test center:

Check-in time: The first session will be held at 8:30 am, the second at 12:30 pm and the last will begin at 4:30 pm. Candidates should arrive at the test center in advance to allow time for staggered registration, verification and entry. Doors will close 15 minutes before the exam, according to the rules. Reporting time for the test center is 7 a.m. M. IST for the morning session, at 11 a.m.

Accept card: Candidates should print the admission card on A4 size paper, preferably with a laser printer; The admission card is valid only if the photograph and images of the candidate’s signature are legibly printed. Candidates must verify all the information mentioned on the admission card. They will also need to bring proof of original identification to the test center for verification. The barcode printed on the admission card can be used to verify the location of the test lab from the barcode counter.

Dress code: Socks, plain pullovers, or sweaters / cardigans without pockets are allowed inside the test lab. There should be no jewelry or metal pieces as part of the clothing. Candidates with a metallic implant, pacemaker, etc. in their body, must bring a medical certificate certifying it at the test center. Also, shoes or other footwear with thick soles and garments with large buttons are not allowed inside the test lab.

Before the exam formalities: After entry, candidates will need to register, go through pat-down, document verification and an IRIS and photo registration. The exam will begin when the proctor informs the candidates to log into the console.

During the exam: As soon as candidates start answering a section, the clock will start. Upon completion of the 40 minutes, the timer would reach zero, the current section would automatically be submitted, and the candidate would automatically move to the next section. Candidates will be asked to return the notepad with all pages intact after completing the exam. It will be administered only once.
