New Zealand captain Kane Williamson rose to second place alongside India skipper Virat Kohli in the latest ICC event rankings. Williamson jumped two places riding his massive 251 against the West Indies at Hamilton.
With his recent performance, he gained 74 points, going from 812 to 886. His compatriot, Tom Latham, had a career-best 733 score and 10th place in the table, thanks to his 86 innings.
From the West Indies camp, Jermaine Blackwood continued the fine form he showed on the tour of England earlier in the year, scoring his second century of testing. The coup shot him 17 places to 41, his best position since reaching 40 in August 2017.
Alzarri Joseph’s unlikely 86 in the West Indies second inning propelled him up 31 spots to rank 123 with a career-high 219 points.
Neil Wagner’s six wickets in the match put him ahead of England’s Stuart Broad again to second place in the bowlers’ standings, matching his career-best position, which he achieved for the first time in December 2019. Southee made his testing debut in March 2008, but his current score of 817 points is the highest taking him to fourth place.
West Indies captain Jason Holder fell from fifth to seventh without having taken any ground. Holder has also lost top spot on the all-terrain table. He was up by one point over England’s Ben Stokes, but Stokes now has a 12-point lead. Stokes briefly held the top spot during the summer, snatching it from Holder after the second Test with the West Indies, before Holder claimed it.
