ICC plans to pull out Lord’s WTC final | Cricket news

NEW DELHI: As world cricket gets excited to see India take on New Zealand at the opening World Trials Championship end of June 18, it became known that the iconic Mister The cricket ground could lose the opportunity to host the historic event.
Lord’s was scheduled to host the match when the International Cricket Council (ICC) first announced the championship. TOI understands that the ongoing pandemic has the ICC planning an alternate venue in England for the final.

“The venue will be announced soon. Lord’s is not the venue that the ICC is planning. The ICC will be informed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (BCE) and their own medical professionals to decide the venue of the final. It could be the case of creating a biosafety bubble similar to the one the ECB had during the last local summer, “an ICC source told TOI.

The ECB hosted the West Indies, Pakistan and Australia in Southampton and Manchester last summer. Both stadiums have five-star accommodation facilities on the premises. Interestingly, the ECB has announced five different locations for India’s test series against England starting in August this year.
IPL will end on May 30
It is also known that this year’s IPL is scheduled to begin on April 9 and end on May 30. This will give the Indian team a fortnight to prepare for the WTC final in England. Delhi is likely to be included in the list of six venues where the IPL will be played. TOI understands that the franchises have been given a tentative schedule for the IPL and that the teams have already begun planning the game and setting up bases at certain locations.
